Looking Back with Gratitude: A Year of Joy, Healing, and Connection

Dear Love Bus Supporter,

As I look back on this past year, I’m filled with gratitude for the incredible kindness and compassion that surround Lucy’s Love Bus. Every child’s smile, every moment of relief or laughter, every small victory in a hospital room — they all happen because of you. Your generosity has carried families through another year of uncertainty, helping them find comfort and connection even when life feels unpredictable.

This year brought meaningful milestones for Lucy’s Love Bus. We welcomed new Board member Rebecca Curry, a former program participant and two-time childhood cancer survivor whose lived experience strengthens our leadership. We also extend heartfelt gratitude to Ann Biese for her six years of dedicated Board service and her strong advocacy for yoga and mindfulness in pediatric care.

In 2025, we amplified our voice through new memberships with the Coalition Against Childhood Cancer and the Society of Integrative Oncology, expanding our role in national advocacy and research alignment. Our partnership with the New England Revolution created unforgettable moments for Love Bus kids, and we launched weekly bedside art therapy at Baystate Children’s Hospital to bring comfort and calm to children receiving care.

This year reminded us again how quickly things can change. When times are tough, the first things cut are often the “extras” — the music lessons, gymnastics, or massages that seem optional to some but mean everything to our families. These aren’t luxuries; they are lifelines. They bring peace to anxious hearts, confidence to growing bodies, and moments of pure joy into the lives of children who need them most. The truth is, the need for our programs remains as urgent as ever. More families are reaching out for help than at any time in our history, and your continued support ensures that we can say “yes” when they need us most.

Next year, we’re turning 20! Throughout 2026, we’ll celebrate this milestone by honoring the children and families who have shaped us, reflecting on our growth, and sharing how Lucy’s legacy continues to inspire our vision for the years ahead.

Stay tuned for a thoughtful brand refresh — nothing big is changing, just a gentle update to better reflect the love, compassion, and connection at the heart of everything we do.

Our growing partnerships are opening the door to meaningful new experiences for families. In 2026, we’re excited to offer a gymnastics-based program with Camp Casco, a caregiver-focused riding program with Ironstone Farm, and more. We are also expanding access to group programs with new sessions in Worcester and western Massachusetts, and introducing Spanish-language programs to better serve bilingual families and strengthen connections across our community.

And of course — save the date! Celebrate our 20th anniversary at the 4th annual Butterfly Benefit on May 7th at Riverwalk Brewery!

As we step into this milestone year, thank you for being part of this incredible journey and for believing, year after year, in the power of joy as medicine. With your continued support, we can keep families moving, healing, and finding hope — together.

With love and gratitude,

Jackie Walker, Executive Director
