Colleen Tierney (she/her/hers), Caregivers Program Manager
In her role as the Caregiver Programs Manager, Colleen connects parents of childhood cancer patients to vital self-care and support services including integrative therapy sessions, respite retreats, support groups, and healthcare advocacy. Colleen’s personal and professional background includes experience with resource navigation, medical knowledge, and grief support, making her uniquely qualified in her role. Her expertise ensures that every Love Bus parent receives the essential support they need to navigate their child's cancer diagnosis and treatment - and whatever comes after.
Colleen was introduced to the world of childhood cancer in 2010 when her daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor at just 28 hours old. Five years later, she pulled from her personal experience to help support families in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit at Tufts Floating Hospital for Children as a Parent Consultant. It was here that her own daughter had been treated, and where Colleen was introduced to Lucy’s Love Bus through the Healing Room program. Through the Healing Room, Colleen helped to coordinate integrative therapies like massage, yoga, acupuncture, and music therapy for patients and their families. Soon after Colleen witnessed the incredible impact that Love Bus’ programs had on young patients and their families, she enrolled her own daughter in the Lucy’s Children program.
When she’s not helping to support Love Bus families, Colleen enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 kids, 1 cat, 5 chickens, and some goldfish (who they pretend are koi). Colleen loves being outside, living near the water, and being the cheerleader at her children’s sporting events. She’s an artist, who loves to create, and graduated in 2007 with a BA and Pre-Professional Certificate in Art Therapy from the University of Tampa.
